Thank you for visiting our homepage about our Buddhist school, community in Italy and varied topics about Buddhist doctrine, history, faith and traditions.
Buddism possesses approximately 3.000 years of history. Nichiren Shu is a Mahayana Buddhist school with 750 years of tradition, based on the Lotus Sutra, the final teachings of Sakyamuni Buddha, and on the teachings of our schools' founder, Nichiren Daishonin. The spirit or heart of our religion and Buddhist philosophy is founded on the equality of all humanity, peace and tranquility, wisdom and insight, a profound respect for all beings, understanding, forgiveness in times of conflict and tragedy, accord between all the world's people, the liberation of suffering, peace and happiness for all. These form not only the basis of Buddhist philosophy, but also our prayers and hopes for the entire world.
Nichiren Shu believers and practitioners have been in Italy for a number of years. Our Sangha (Buddhist community) within the Italian Republic was formally founded, however, in 2001 - the first year of the new century. In commemoration of the 750th anniversary of the foundation of our school and the forming of our Sangha within this country, we decided to create this modest site.
